The use of marijuana for Inflammatory bowel disease and other conditions is a tricky one to talk about. It’s a topic that is controversial in many ways. People have good points on each side of the argument. The topic of cannabis for medical use is not going away and I wanted to do more research on the topic which so many people are talking about.
I wanted to share a documentary which I recently watched to educate myself more on the topic of medical marijuana. The film is called A NORML Life and it goes into many areas of medical marijuana in great detail. From how it can help patients with many diseases, the science behind it, how it can be regulated properly and more.
If you are interested in this topic I highly suggest watching this documentary. I found it very educational and feel like I’m no longer ignorant to the topic of medical marijuana and the use of cannabis for diseases.
I’ve included the trailer for the film above, but you can watch the entire documentary below.
Recently there has been a flurry of articles and studies on how medical marijuana can help those with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. A good example of how this topic is so controversial happened right on the IIF Facebook page. We posted a link about a recent study and immediately a mother wrote about how it was wrong of us to include research on this topic on our page and how she would never give her 11-year-old daughter cannabis. You can see the article and post by clicking here.
In my opinion it’s a topic and choice that has to be made on a case by case basis. I would never suggest giving a child marijuana, but if it would help a child’s disease then that is a choice that the parents would have to make. Everyone is different and everyone has to figure out where they stand on this issue. We believe that one of our missions at the IIF is to allow everyone to have direct access to all the topics surrounding IBD and medical marijuana is one of them.
We’d like to know your thoughts on the use of Cannabis for medical purposes. Please leave comments below and we can hopefully start a discussion on this very interesting topic.
